Is Adoption Possible?

Yes! If a child is not able to be reunified with their birth family and the desire and bonding are there for the Child and Foster-to Adopt parents, then adoption is a great solution.

Foster-to-Adopt and Matched Adoptions

Burke Center Adoption and Foster Family Services provides permanent homes to Texas children whose parental rights have been legally terminated. Certainly, we all agree that every child deserves a loving family to call their own. All foster parents and adoptive parents are screened and studied carefully before a child is placed in their home. We recruit, screen, train, license, supervise and support foster- to- adopt families. When the child’s reunification with their biological family is not possible and a strong bond has formed between the foster family and child, then foster-to-adopt is a life changing opportunity. While allowing children to grieve their loss, our Case Managers work with the Foster-to-Adopt Family to empower and equip them to be supportive and understanding of this loss. We often work with therapists whose expertise includes helping children through the transition toward adoption.

Matched adoptions are those which are initiated as adoptive placements. Burke Center will assist families in preparing their portfolios for presentation. We also provide the home study and pre-service training. Adoptive parents are then presented to the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services adoption unit with the goal of being considered for the adoption of a particular child that is currently in the state’s permanent conservatorship. Once the child is placed, we provide case management and support to the family and child until the consummation day in court.

Because of State subsidies, these adoptions are of little or no cost to the adoptive family. If you have any questions about our adoption services, contact the Burke Center today.
