3rd Annual Burke Rally
August 14 – 16

It is Better to Build Children than to Repair Adults!

Are you ready for a great FAMILY CENTERED weekend while helping out children who need your support? Please put these dates down on your calendar! It’s Burke Rally time again! The Burke Rally is a fundraiser for the Burke Center. We are proud to say that 100% of your donation goes directly to the Burke Center benefiting these children! “It is better to build children than to repair adults” is more than just a good slogan. It has been the fundamental belief at the Burke Center since 1973. Burke Center for Youth, located just off of FM 150 in Driftwood, is an adoption, foster care, and residential treatment center for children across the state who have been removed from their homes for abuse or neglect. There are five offices. The treatment center, which is located at the Driftwood site, houses boys age 11 to 17 who are in need of an intense program which will prepare them to function successfully in a family setting. The mission with every child is to help them build self respect, self esteem and self reliance. This is done through a multidisciplinary approach using therapists and a psychiatrist each having over 30 years experience. They have on-site classrooms run by the University of Texas Charter School with highly qualified teachers. There are volunteer-led activities such as horseback riding instruction, music instruction, and weekly chapel services. Other frequent events include art, hiking, fishing, camping, community service, work projects, 4H, and Boy Scouts. This outdoor approach embraces freedom from distractions like television and video games. The most stimulating events of the day occur through interactions with other people and nature. You may drive to the event each day or just come and camp out at Camp Ben McCullouch.
